Complex Color Wheels

ITC Artists studied color theory and the science of color mixing. Students created a balanced symmetrical design to begin their assignment. Next, students were allowed to only use the Primary Colors to create all colors represented on the color wheel. In each section, students also included the complementary color and 2 values of the color. These designs are beautiful! They had the opportunity to turn a traditional color wheel into a work of art!

Gestural Line Drawings

ITC STUDENT ARTISTS worked with quick sketched lines to create these gesture drawings of inanimate objects. These sketches allowed students to compare and contrast working with gesture lines vs. working with contour lines. I was more than pleased with these sketches and the student's use of space!

More fun with Contour Lines! contour figure drawings

Students continued their work with sharp lines to create these very interesting optical illusion art (Op Art). I was really pleased how these turned out...even though it made our eyes crazy...students were very excited about their success! Nice job ITC Eagles!

Contour Lines

Studio students at ITC worked hard today practicing and learning about contour lines. We looked at and analyzed this image as a class.
ITC students were instructed to create 3 contour drawings.
1. A blind contour drawing: students looked at seashells and not at their paper. Students used sharpies for their drawing.
2. A contour drawing looking at both the paper and seashell
3. Optical illusion hand design focusing on contour lines
Great job student artists!
